Highams Park & Chingford Community Hub
The Hub Community Cafe
At Highams Park Hub, we’ve expanded our services to include The Hub Community Cafe, scheduled to be open every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm, Wednesday from 11am to 2pm and Thursday from 11am to 1pm.
This cafe is completely free to anyone who wants to attend, offering a warm, welcoming place for people to enjoy a hot drink, chat with others, and feel connected.
We hope The Hub Cafe will help bring our community together, tackling loneliness and food poverty in the area. Everyone is welcome; come along, enjoy some warmth, and be part of our friendly community! Please check our timetable at The Hub to see what activies are available for that week.

The food… is really helpful but having people to chat to is great. It is almost the highlight of their week.

I love serving – chatting, helping, remembering what people like. It’s social, welcoming, and it makes a real difference. People feel they matter.

The food bank has also been a great place to meet people for a chat and a coffee which has helped me so much.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a community cafe?
A community cafe is a place where people can come together to enjoy food and drink, often in a relaxed and welcoming environment – and ours is 100% free.. These cafes are run to support the local community, and they may offer free or low-cost meals to those in need. They are also a space for socialising and making connections with others such as through our knitting club on Wednesdays.
Yes, you need a licence to open a cafe in the UK. This includes a food business registration with your local council and, depending on what you sell, other licences for things like serving alcohol. You’ll also need to meet health and safety regulations to keep your customers safe. Highams Park Hub are registered with the food standards agency and we are currently a 5/5 rating.
